Call for papers

Submissions are invited for a special issue of the Estonian Journal of Education (Eesti Haridusteaduste Ajakiri), Vol. 9, No. 2, which is scheduled to be published November 2021. The journal welcomes high-quality research papers in the field of today’s literacies and related areas. The editors of the special issue are Miia Rannikmäe (Professor in Science Education) and Krista Uibu (Professor in Primary Education) from the University of Tartu, and Rain Mikser (Senior Research Fellow in Educational Sciences) from Tallinn University.

More specifically, we invite articles within, but not limited to, the following themes:

  • scientific and technological literacy, conceptualisations, promotion and assessment
  • functional and information literacy, achievement and assessment
  • mathematical literacy and its assessment
  • development of sport literacy
  • digital literacy
  • financial and business literacy
  • re-mixing of literacies

The Estonian Journal of Education is an international, peer-reviewed journal. The journal uses Open Journal Systems (OJS) and is published, in collaboration with the University of Tartu and Tallinn University, by the University of Tartu Press. The journal is indexed in the database EBSCO Academic Search Complete and Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

The deadlines for the publication are as follows:

  1. Author(s)send the topic of the article(s), accompanied by an abstract in Estonian to Miia Rannikmäe (miia.rannimae@ut.ee). The abstract of no more than 200 words should summarize the theory of research, the objective(s), the methodology as well as the (expected) outcomes of the study – 21 September 2020.
  2. The editors send confirmation of acceptance of the manuscripts to the corresponding authors – 12 October 2020.
  3. Authors submit appropriately formatted manuscripts, together with a summary in English – 17 January 2021.
  4. Editors inform authors on review outcomes – 8 March 2021.
  5. Authors revised manuscripts, based on reviewers’ guidelines – 5 April 2021.
  6. Editors inform authors of revised manuscript acceptance, or whether a second revision is required based on additional guidelines – 3 May 2021.
  7. Authors submit second revised manuscripts – 24 May 2021.
  8. Language editing of manuscripts – May–June and August 2021.
  9. Lay-out of the journal at University of Tartu Press – end of October 2021.
  10. Publication of journal – 1 November 2021.

The next open issue of the journal will welcome articles in the field of education and related areas. It is due to be published 1st May 2022.
