Earlier messages: Call for papers

We are inviting submissions for a special issue of Estonian Journal of Education (Eesti Haridusteaduste Ajakiri), Vol. 5, No. 1, the topic of which is contemporary issues in preschool and primary education. The editors of this issue are Associate Professors of Primary Education Krista Uibu and Anu Palu from the University of Tartu, and Professor of Early Childhood Education Aino Ugaste and Associate Professor of Preschool and Primary Didactics Inge Timoštšuk from Tallinn University. The special issue is scheduled to be published in May 2018.

Estonian Journal of Education is an international, peer-reviewed journal. The journal is interdisciplinary in nature and aims to open up critical discussion and debate across subject areas by involving all those who share a commitment to the field of education. The journal uses Open Journal Systems (OJS) and will be published in collaboration with the University of Tartu and Tallinn University by the University of Tartu Press twice a year. The journal is indexed in the database Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and Google Scholar. It is submitted for inclusion in Thomson Reuters ISI Web of Science as well as Scopus database. All articles have a DOI number.

In the forthcoming issue we welcome articles in the field of research in science education and smart technologies. The themes include:

1) Learning in preschool and early primary school: cognitive, affective and social aspects;
2) Assessment of quality of teaching and learning in different stages of pre- and primary school;
3) Learning environment and methods supporting child development
4) Multicultural learning and teaching environment
5) Preschool and primary school teachers’ continuing professional development

The deadlines for the publication are as follows:

  1. Author(s) will send the topic of the article(s) accompanied by the abstract in Estonian to Krista Uibu (krista.uibu@ut.ee). The abstract of no more than 200 words should summarise the theory of research, the objective(s), the methodology as well as the (expected) outcomes of the study – 3 April 2017.
  2. The editors send confirmation about the acceptance of the manuscripts to the corresponding authors – 24 April 2017.
  3. The authors will submit properly formatted manuscripts with a summary in English – 11 September 2017.
  4. The editors will inform the authors about the review results – 6 November 2017.
  5. The authors will revise the manuscripts suggested by the reviewers – 4 December 2017.
  6. Second revision of the manuscripts by the authors (if necessary) – 15 January 2018.
  7. Language editing of the manuscripts – 1 March 2018.
  8. Lay-out of the journal at University of Tartu Press – March–April 2018.
  9. Date of final publication – 1 May 2018.

In the next free issue we welcome articles in the field of sense of initiative, entrepreneurship and related areas and it is due to be published in November 2018.
